September Sewing
September Sewing
To me, September has always been like New Year’s, a time of new beginnings and getting back into routines after the summer! With the cooler days and kids back in school it is a great time to get sewing. AND it is National Sewing Month in the US…I will take it upon myself to declare it to be National Sewing Month in Canada too! (I hope that’s legal)
At the SewGood studio I have been getting ready for the start of the new season. Cleaning and organizing the studio, and reflecting on what a great summer it has been!
Besides having some great Summer Camps for Tweens and Teens, I had a couple of young men come to learn to sew before heading off to Montreal to start university! How exciting that these two, very cool, young guys gave up a few days at the beach to learn to sew. They both want to learn how to make their own clothing and plan to continue their sewing studies in Montreal in their free time.
Besides my regular beginner classes I also taught some private classes for a mom-to-be that wanted to learn to make baby leggings and onesies! She originally brought her mom’s old sewing machine that clanked along and couldn’t really do a zig zag stitch. After the first class she left it at home and enjoyed sewing on the Brother NS40e instead! You don’t have to have a serger to make these cute baby outfits (although sergers ARE nice, and once you get your sewing groove on you will want one!) everything can be done on the sewing machine and these little Brothers are so good for beginners to learn on.

Last year I launched my Kids Classes and am so pleased to be able to keep the art of sewing alive in the younger generation! The classes have been very popular and have just about filled up for September! I do have a very few spots left so if you want to get your child into a fun and productive after school program register now!
AND of course I offer adult Beginner Classes as well. So, take your part in National Sewing Month and learn to sew!
